tails (tales... get it?) of betsy

once upon a time there was a 1992 blue honda civic. she was welcomed into the satterfield family when my oldest sister, rivka, bought her in her college years. she was well loved and traveled many places. she then was passed on to my sister sheynah. sheynah and the honda didn't really get along because of the fact that she was a manual car, and also she liked to puff white smoke. so then she sat outside the house for many months waiting for her favorite compadre. after an engine change and me getting my driver's license, the honda and i were united. yes the honda was very loud and sometimes rambunctious, which is how she (or rather the ghost in her) came to be named betsy (yes, a cow name). see the ghost always lived in the honda. rivka named her susan, but i personally believe her real name is betsy. she plays lots of tricks, good and bad. she will turn the speakers on and off, adjust the volume on the radio, turns the lights on while i am sitting in the car, turn the lights on after i have left (sometimes she lets the car die, sometimes she keeps it alive for a miraculuously long time). we have been on many trips in between idaho, utah, and montana. we have been through three flat tires, two alternators, lots of dead batteries, a couple paint jobs, one completely replaced battery, new brakes, leaking oil and anti-freeze and no airconditioning. ha it has been an adventure but i am kind of under the belief that everyone should have an old car at least once in their life. especially girls. i now know more about cars then any girl i have met. and i have so many funny stories. the day betsy dies will be a tragedy.

well a new addition has been added to her aesthetics. sheynah found these super tacky, but super fitting old seats covers for her and i may think that betsy has never looked better.

*also she's been through several prank wars with me. she is a real sport.

xoxo

  1. What have you done to my car! (said in Captain Jack's "stop blowin' holes in my ship" voice.)
