my idaho

these are some photos i snapped while visiting idaho last month. although idaho weather isn't exactly my cup of tea, nothing beats idaho summers. the perfect amount of heat in the day with a perfect amount of crispness in the air in the evening. and it always smells so clean and earthy. if you ever plan on going to idaho, go in the summer and i guarantee you will feel renewed.

there is something good going on there.

gotta love the country

my very own sleepy hollow

here is one of my father's and my favorite places to birdwatch. market lake is a land reserve is south east idaho with great birding. this eerie stretch of land is where our favorite great horned owls nest each year. every time we go in, we always comment that this is probably what sleepy hollow looks like.  don't you agree?

i have started a halloween tradition of reading washington irving's the legend of sleepy hollow. if you have time you should read it here.

happy halloween!

campfires and dutch oven cooking...

we went camping with the idaho boys in payson canyon. my idaho accent (a.k.a loosing all consonants and letting phrases slip into my vocab like "well shoot") comes out so much when i'm around these boys.  we stayed up until 3 a.m. sitting by the campfire and watching shooting stars. then it rained so we all had to squish into our 2 three man tents. it was such a fun adventure!

fishing with the pops

during my trip home dad and i went fishing up in the palisade reservoir. maybe dad caught a fish (which the picture makes it look deceivingly big. it was maybe 4 inches) and i only caught my finger, but it felt so good to be out in nature. then we stopped by angus and i might have had the best burger and fries ever! i love idaho.

p.s. maybe i really want to go fishing again sometime soon
